School of Dentistry which is a part of College of Oral Medicine within Taipei Medical University (TMU) has gained reputation in dental education and training. We have a strong research foundation with high ranking among dental schools in Taiwan and a broad range of education and training programs.
The Master program and Doctoral (Ph.D.) program in School of Dentistry are intended for graduate students who wish to pursue advanced education and training in regard to oral medical research, academic careers, and clinical professional.
We offer different majors which cover 7 clinical specialties including
(1) Endodontics, (2) Periodontology, (3) Orthodontics, (4) Occlusion and Temporomandibular Disorder, (5) Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, (6) Pediatric Dentistry, and (7) Prosthodontics; accompanied by 3 interdisciplinary research areas including (1) Medicine & Life Sciences, (2) Engineering & Materials Science, and (3) Chemical Compounds.
Both the Master and the Ph.D. degree programs have a common core of coursework, with the latter requiring intense research training for longer duration. The coursework consists of an in-depth exposure to knowledge related to academic and clinical dental education, scientific research methodology, humanities, and other related sciences, and is coupled with individual research, tutorial and thesis/dissertation program.
Every graduate student will conduct a scientific research project which will be presented in the Master thesis or Doctoral dissertation. Students can choose the topic from a wide range of research areas within dentistry and related sciences, and work closely with their supervisor(s) who will assist students to execute their project and support their development.
